James Harrieson was fined 75K for his hits on the Browns this past Sunday. It is sad that just because of one week several dangerous hits occured on players that the NFL has finally put its foot down. To me this is garbage. These guys play this game and know the possible injuries that can occur all so they can make millions. The NFL rides on these aggressive hard hits thats why we all tune in on Sunday afternoon and evening. This is America's sport now and America has an infatuation with violence and thats something that football has, a violent contact fast paced system. How do you feel about the NFL now and the fines on the players involved in week 6?
This is tough I think. After seeing LeGrand (Rutgers Defensive Tackle) getting paralyzed from the kneck down because the way he put his head down and hit someone makes me feel this could be a good thing. For the reason that it is protecting the player getting hit as much as its the person doing the hitting. There are still big hits that can be done with the helmet to helmet stuff. But at the same time I understand the side that players should know the risks of the game they play.
ReplyDeleteya it is kind of garbage, but know harrison is thinking about retiring because of the rules changing. he shouldnt have be fined because of that it was not blatent. cribbs said himself that it wasnt blatent back in college they played and he was hitting the same way.
ReplyDeleteI'm not necessarily upset that they fined James Harrison just because of everything that took place over the weekend. With that said though i am upset that they fined him 75k just because of the fact he was a repeat offender? Thats garbage Harrison is right the only reason that he was fined that much is because he was the biggest name out of the three fined and like always Goodell wants to make an example to show everyone he runs this league, well Goodell is running the league right into the ground.
ReplyDeleteI don't get the Roger Goddell and the NFL's thinking sometimes. Harrison has also played and hit like this and he had no intention of going for the players head's in the hits he made. Now he doesn't know what to do or think as he said yesterday how he is contemplating retirement because he can't play the way he was taught as a kid. I am upset with this as a football fan because hits like this happen all the time, however the NFL just decided to take action because there were 3 or 4 in one weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous. Player's should not be getting fined for making big hits that dont even hurt the opposing player. Both of Harrison's hits were nice and he may have grazed the helmet of the players but it wasnt intentional at all.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way he should been fined at all. This is a volient game and if you don't like it don't play it. James Harrison even made intial contact with his forearm not his helmet. Goodell is going to ruin the game is he keeps this up.
