The news on the potential NFL lockout next year are starting to come to a head and could be devastating. The NFL could lose 1 billion dollars after the March 3 collective bargaining agreement. This to me is not very shocking considering the NFL is the most popular sport in America however, it is a very large number indeed. Here is another scary number, 8 million. This is the amount that each team could lose for every canceled home game. These teams make revenue for their cities through various things such as restaurants, hotel accommodations and parking. Hopefully this will not happen, but what are some of your thoughts on the possible lockout?
The NFL going to a lockout would be one of the worst things that could happen for sports. It is the most popular leage in the US, and not having that for an entire season is going to hurt a lot of cities. Also, I don't think the NFL realizes how many fans they will lose if they have a lockout. The NHL is still trying to recover from its lockout a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe worst part is, this is all over money. The owners & the players just can't get along and they're going to ruin it for the fans, which is ridiculous. They all make more money than we could ever dream of, and they want more. Their greed could ruin the sport of football for a lot of people.
I agree with Chelsea above. It's so stupid that these players want to cost cities billions of dollars just because THEY want more money.
ReplyDeleteBut at the same time if they go to lockout they go to a lockout. NFL fans will be angry, but maybe it will give some exposure to other sports like the NHL? Nah! ESPN will just make college football it's lead sport and still talk about the NFL everyday.
Don't get me wrong I like football, but it just seems to rule the air when it comes to sports, which makes me dislike it a bit since I'm a hockey fan.
